Title: I'm not waiting
Rating: PG
Spoilers: None; technically a coda for 1.16 - "Shadow".
Wordcount: ~120
Genre: Gen
Characters/pairings: John, Dean, Sam.
Disclaimer: SPN and its characters do not belong to me.
It's a habit they have, watching John leave. They go out of their room of the week, apartment of the month, and watch their dad driving in reverse until he hits the road, and then far and away and for however long it takes the Impala to disappear from sight.
They stand there on the porch, or front step – or the fucking road itself, if that's all they have. If John tells them to stay inside (rarely, rarely: it's like he can never stop looking at them, because his eyes keep meeting theirs through the windshield, and twice he'd almost run passers-by over), they watch him from the window.
Then they go back inside, and pretend they aren't waiting.
